Organizational Engagement

Sustaining the Helper. An organizational edition.

A three-tier engagement for frontline organizations whose staff are exposed to others’ trauma. Starts with training. Moves into structured team-level measurement. Can continue as ongoing support. All designed to centre staff wellbeing and strengthen the systems that hold the work.

Who it’s for

Frontline organizations whose staff carry what the work asks of them.

Built for frontline organizations whose staff are routinely exposed to others’ trauma, grief, and crisis as part of the job. Shelters. Harm reduction teams. Crisis lines. Victim services. Youth agencies. Any organization where staff hold space for people in distress and where leadership wants a structured, team-level approach to protecting wellbeing — not just offering an employee assistance line and hoping for the best.

This engagement is designed to work with the systems your organization already has: your supervision structure, your existing supports, your current programs. It adds structure, measurement, and a shared vocabulary. It does not replace what you already do.

The three tiers

Start where it fits. Build from there.

Each tier works on its own. Together they form a progressive engagement — from a single-day shared vocabulary, to structured team-level measurement, to ongoing partnership. Most organizations begin with Tier 1 or Tier 2, then decide whether Tier 3 fits.

Tier 1 · Training

Sustaining the Helper workshop

A 6-hour, trauma-informed professional-development workshop on vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue. Gives teams concrete language, a validated self-assessment, and a personal sustainable-practice plan they leave with.

Includes
  • Clear distinctions between vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout
  • ProQOL self-assessment with facilitated interpretation
  • Evidence-informed personal and organizational strategies
  • A sustainable-practice plan built during the session
  • Half-day format also available
This workshop is CCPA-approved for 6 Continuing Education Credits (Event Code 64978026) through the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Full workshop details on the Training & Courses page.
Tier 2 · 90-Day Wellness Pulse

Structured team-level measurement and action

A 90-day engagement that moves beyond training into measurement. Baselines where your team is now, surfaces patterns, and gives leadership and supervisors practical tools to act on what the data shows — using the structures your organization already has.

Includes
  • Baseline staff assessment using the ProQOL
  • A short anonymous check-in, delivered through tools your organization already uses
  • Supervisor guide for using results constructively in supervision
  • Two leadership sessions on reading, discussing, and acting on team-level findings
  • Final report with practical, organization-specific recommendations
Organizational consultation only. Not counselling, not clinical assessment. See the trust section below for how we protect your staff.
Tier 3 · Ongoing support

Sustained partnership through the year.

For organizations that want the measurement, supervisor coaching, and leadership support to continue past the initial 90 days. Designed as an annual rhythm, not a one-off.

Includes
  • Quarterly pulse reviews with your leadership team
  • Supervisor coaching sessions on reading signals, holding supportive conversations, and connecting staff to supports
  • Annual full reassessment, benchmarked against the baseline
  • Light-touch between-quarter availability for questions as they come up
Typically begins after a successful Tier 2 engagement.
How we protect your staff

Staff safety is the design principle.

Measurement in a workplace only works if staff trust it. These are the guardrails built into the design — non-negotiable, named up front, and consistent across every engagement.

Limited pilot spots for 2–3 organizations

Think your team could use this?

I’m taking on a small number of pilot organizations to launch this engagement. A 20-minute call is the best way to figure out whether this is the right fit for your team right now, and which tier makes sense to start with.
